Prenuptial/Postnuptial Agreement
Prenuptial and Postnuptial agreements are voluntary contracts between two individuals that are entered into either before, in the case of a Prenuptial Agreement, or during a marriage or civil union, in the case of a Postnuptial Agreement. These agreements give a couple a structured means to settle their financial disputes should a divorce or dissolution arise, which often can reduce possible future legal expenses and conflict in the event of a divorce, as well as protect the pre-marital wishes and intentions of the parties. Issues related to the custody, visitation and support of unborn children cannot be included in these types of agreements in New York.
